Cranes-UK recently won the order to supply, install and commision two Used 20 Tonne Double Girder Overhead Crane at the busy premesis of Cookson & Zinn.
The huge cranes proudly sit nicely inside the warehouse that produces fuel tanks, the crane will be used to lift heavy components to assemble the huge tanks that can be installed above or below ground. After all the components are built the crane will also be used to load trucks that will delivery the tanks to their new home.
When asked to quote for the job Crane Handling (our other brand name) were told that the crane will be subject to intense usage and will need to be of impecable quality in order to stand up to the work at hand. This was no competition for us as high quality heavy duty cranes are in our every day scope of supply, Cranes-UK and Crane Handling never ever supply a crane that we feel is inadequate for the application and there for offered the client two 'Like New' Demag 20,000kg Double Girder Overhead Cranes that had been cared for rigorously.
The cranes have worked few hours and have always been correctly maintained throughout their working life, like all of the used cranes we buy and sell. This was a massive reassurance for our customer that they were making the right decision when choosing used cranes over new cranes. Their accounts department will have also felt a huge benefit in the used option.
The two monstorous cranes run on the same track together where we installed anti colision equipment to prevent any unintended accidents, the cranes are powered by a busbar power feed system while the pendant cable and hoist mains are fed using a festoon cable management system as seen on most cranes and hoists today. The huge Demag crab units that run along the double girders of the cranes operate on four falls of wire rope to offer a safe and efficient lift.
Once the cranes arrived on site by lorry they were unloaded and installed using a mobile crane and our team of installation engineers, this was all completed within one day, the customer was left with two 'Like New' Used Overhead Cranes and a big smile on his face!
